Dr Zhengwei Wei
Chairman of the Committee

Dr. Wei started his association with IBO as its Examiner Responsible for Chinese A1 while he was studying at the University of Edinburgh, UK. Later he was elected as the Chief Examiners’ Representative for hexogen group 1 and acted as a member of the Examining Board and the Diploma Review Committee, the IB Recognition Ambassador, the IB Workshop Leader and Online Facilitator. In the past 30 years, he has attended IB meetings for the IB Diploma programme’s curriculum development and assessment policy making as well as the IBO’s strategic planning, and given lectures and keynote speeches on IB related topics worldwide. In 2010, he returned to China to work at several international schools as the founder, the Principal, the Director for Development and other leadership roles. In addition, he currently sits on the advisory board for several institutions and is one of the co-founders of Chinese International Educators Association.

Ms. Ning DONG (MPhil., M.A., B.A.)
Chief Judge

Ms Ning Dong received a BA and MA in Chinese Language and Literature(in China) and an MPhil in Chinese Studies(in Australia). With around 38 years of teaching and working experience in the Chinese language and literature fields, she has worked as a lecturer for university students, and teacher and curriculum coordinator for students at the secondary school level. She was a deputy principal of South China International School in China and principal of Datong Chinese School in Sydney, the Head of Chinese at Renaissance College, Hong Kong. She is the author of many textbooks for the International Baccalaureate IBDP curriculum. She is also the author of IB Middle Years Program Chinese Language and Literature Textbooks. These books have become popular among IB Chinese instructors as they filled a key gap in teaching material for the curriculum. She currently is the Director of EiM Group Wo hui Curriculum & Training.

Wesley HAN Wei

Zhang Qian

Zhang Qian, graduated from the major of Chinese language and literature education of Capital Normal University, has been engaged in Chinese education for 19 years and has won the title of senior Chinese teacher. She once worked in Beijing Xicheng key middle school for many years, as grade leader and preparation leader. Now she works in Beijing Haidian Kaiwen Academy and serves as the head of the Chinese Language Arts department of the secondary school. Zhang Qian pays attention to cultivating students' reading universality and speculative ability and is committed to cultivating students' innovative thinking and critical thinking in the teaching practice of reading and writing. Her teaching philosophy of equality and respect and friendly and natural teaching style are deeply loved by students.

Dr. Isabella Lei

Deputy Director of Curriculum Center, Shanghai Vanke Bilingual School

Isabelle Lei obtained her doctoral degree in Chinese classic literature. She used to serve as the Head of the Chinese Department at Tsinghua International School and compiled the Chinese textbook of Tsinghua International School the Outstanding Works of Tsinghua Scholars during that time. Later she joined Whittle School & Studios in Shenzhen, played the roles as Deputy Division Head of Lower and Middle School & the Head of Chinese Department, focusing on the integration of the Chinese national curriculum and western education concepts and methods, and the refined development of Chinese curriculum. Currently, she works at Shanghai Vanke Bilingual School as the Deputy Director of Curriculum Center. 


LIU Xiangyu Anna
Vice-Chair of the Committee

Anna graduated from The University of HongKong with “Distinction”, earned “Dean’s Honors List Awards”. Holding Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard University, TSCL and TESCL Certificate from Columbia University Teacher’s College.Working as Chinese Immersion Curriculum Coordinator and facilitator of International Education Teaching Center. Ms. Liu has rich experience in bilingual education, curriculum design, teacher training, Parent academy. She has facilitated different workshops and trainings for public and international schools. Ms. Liu has collaborated with PYP founder Kevin Bartlett to design bilingual curriculum. 

Shan Zhouyao

Professor Shan Zhouyao, also known as Wen Nong and Dan Zhai, has been a distinguished figure in Chinese academia since 1975, teaching at the HKU's Chinese Department, now known as the School of Chinese, HKU. Between 1981-1982, he was a visiting fellow at the University of Leeds in the UK. From 1998 to 2007, he served as the Head of the School of Chinese, HKU. In 2005, he was honored with an HKU Endowed Professorship, and in 2006, he received an Outstanding Supervisor Award. From 2012 to 2020, he was the Vice President (Academic) at Hong Kong Nang Yan College of Higher Education, where he also served as the Dean of the School of Arts and the Head of the Chinese Department from 2012 to 2021. He is now Distinguished Professor, Faculty of Arts, Hong Kong Nan Yan College of Higher Education. He holds multiple honorary positions at various universities and serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals. He has published over 200 papers and authored books such as "Essays on Chinese Linguistics" and "Essays on Chinese Philology".


John CHEUNG

Principal CHEUNG, who graduated from well-known universities in the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong, is the founding principal of Tai Kwong Hilary College.  He has over 20 years of working experience in international education and has British & American curriculum certification, including International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum leadership experience.  He took up various managerial roles in the education field, serving as the principal of Cambridge International School, American High School and IB schools in different regions.  

Principal Cheung also serves as a leader or advisor in different education professional associations & organizations. He is the chairman of the Hong Kong International Education Development and Research Association, councillor of Hong Kong Principals' Institute and academic Committee Expert of Education Committee of Hong Kong Bauhinia College. For higher education, Principal Cheung is also working as a part-time instructor of The University of Sunderland in Hong Kong, committee member of Hong Kong Polytechnic University Gifted Education Quality Assurance and a mentor of the Education University of Hong Kong.

Principal Cheung was an advisory member of “Disability Discrimination Ordinance under the Education Bureau (EDB) of Hong Kong from 2019-2021. The contribution that Principal Cheung has made is widely recognized.  He won the "Principal of the Year" award at the Vision of International Schools (VIS) Conference 2020 and the "Excellence in Educational Administration" Awards in 2020- 2022.


Dr. Luxia Yan

Dr. Yan Luxia is a well-known IB school authorizing officer, consultant and principal trainer, who has over 20 years of teaching and management experience across multiple international school both in China and abroad. She has accumulated rich experience over IB DP/MYP/PYP, Chinese A and B, AP, SAT, IGCSE, HSK and other international courses and exams, and is closely connected with the IB Asian Pacific office, serving as IB Pre-University Program Seminar Trainer, Language and Literature Examiner, Curriculum Reviewer, Pre-University Program Authorizing Consultant and School Team Vist Authorizing Officer. She has led more than 100 workshops covering various areas of IB, including disciplines, epistemology, learning methods, leadership training and administrative management.

Eva Li

Eva Li holds a Master degree of Chinese Language and Literature. She is now the Principal of Vanke School Pudong. She is also an IB Workshop Leader, Program Leader, Verification/ Authorization Team Member. With nearly 20 years of teaching and management experience in public and international schools, Ms. Li has successfully served as a core member of founding teams of well-known international and bilingual schools, Director of Chinese programs and founding Head of School. She is quite experienced in Chinese, inquiry and project-based learning, English, TOK, IB PYP, MYP, DP and CP and has got excellent understanding of the development of the Chinese National Curriculum. She is also an honorary adviser for East China Normal University and Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Jennifer Pun Fan

A master's degree in Chinese literature education, an expert in international understanding education, a Hong Kong accredited teacher, and a Hong Kong system assessment reviewer. Served as an academic executive at ISF in Hong Kong and Keystone Academy in Beijing. She is currently the Director of Education for Malvern College International Asia (Chinese).

She has extensive experience in integrating international teaching into the Chinese curriculum system. She has won awards such as famous Chinese principals of international schools.


Dr. Chen Jia-Wei

Dr. Chen Jia-Wei serves as the principal of the NTWJWAL Leung Sing Tak Primary School, located in Tai Yuen Estate, Tai Po, Hong Kong.

Principal Chen firmly believes in the excellent education to unlock every child's potential, asserting that each child has their own sky for growth and a stage for life.

Dr. Chen is an experienced educational administrator with prior roles including the principal of the primary section at G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College, and the Director of Whole-Person Development in early childhood, primary, and secondary education at St. Hilary's Education.

Principal Chen also has extensive experience in gifted education, moral education, Chinese culture, and catering for individual differences.

Principal Chen is not only passionate about learning and continuously seeks further education, but he also engages in relentless writing. He has published a total of 12 books on various subjects, contributed columns to different media outlets, and hosted cultural and educational programs.

Graduated from the University of Hong Kong,obtained the Chinese and American teacher qualifications, the Chinese teacher qualification certificate from Columbia University, and the IB International Diploma qualification certificate. She has worked as bilingual program coordinator, Chinese Department Head, and Grade Level leader in international schools. She is currently the Primary Mandarin leader at Shekou International School in Shenzhen. She has many years teaching experience of first and second language teaching in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Portugal. As an international teaching method trainer and curriculum researcher, she has organized numerous internal and external teacher trainings,lectures and parent workshops to cultivate students' bilingual literacy skills and critical thinking.


Sissy Shen

Ms. Sissy Shen joined YCIS Shanghai since 2008 and she currently serves as the Assistant Chinese Co-pincipal at Pudong campus. Ms. Shen gained her master degree in International Chinese Language Education and she has 18 years of teaching and leadership experience. Beyond school, she is also a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) evaluation team and the exteral mentor to students of East China Normal University.

Shi Hong Bing

Mrs. Shi Hong Bing is currently working as the director of the Chinese Department in Pui Ching Middle School (Macau) .  She has been engaged in the education profession for more than thirty-seven years, including      twenty-seven years of teaching in the mainland. With the support of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, she joined the "Outstanding Teachers from Mainland China to Macau for Exchange Programme" ten years ago and was sent to the Macau Special Administrative Region to help reforming the Chinese curriculum of Macau primary schools.  Since then, she has been working in Pui Ching Middle School (Macau) until now. 

Ms Han Yimei

Ms Han Yimei, holds a bachelor degree of Chinese Language and Literature(Comparative Literature) in CNU, and a master degree of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in HKU. She is currently the Secretary of HKCEA and a Grade Level Leader in ISF. She was the Assistant Language Lecturer in HKU and an administrator and an examiner of HSK. She was invited as the HK speaker in a regional exchange activity. Ms Han is dedicated in promoting and developing Chinese reading and writing , encouraging and practising a life-long learning.

Crain is currently working as a Cambridge assessment specialist and a Cambridge IGCSE Chinese examiner. He graduated with a Master in language teaching and has been awarded as an excellent teacher at the Confucius Institute for many years. His articles have been included in the National Institute of Language Education of Thailand many times. With nearly 10 years of teaching and management experience in well-known international schools at home and abroad, he has served as the vice principal and the head of Chinese. He is a senior PYP, MYP, DP course teaching expert and HSK, IGCSE, IB and other international Chinese exam guidance experts. In the Cambridge Global Examination this year, his students won the “Top in the World” Award, and all achieved A-A* results.

Prior to her current position as the World Language Coordinator at ISA Science City Guangzhou, she was the Enhanced Language Programme Coordinator at Wesley College in Melbourne, Australia.

She held many workshops for teachers and students from local secondary schools and the University of Hong Kong in recent years. Meanwhile, she was also the Chinese leader of the 21st Century Learning International. She is currently teaching in the National Kaohsiung Normal University.

Dr. Cherry Ji

An alumnus of Nanyang Technological University and Nanjing University, Dr Cherry Ji has held several teaching positions in Government schools and Nanyang Girls' High School in Singapore. A recipient of "Most Inspiring Chinese Teacher Award" and "Most Popular Teacher Award", Dr. Ji joined SJI International in 2015 and shortly afterwards, she headed the Chinese Department. She is an examiner for IB Chinese A. Cherry is also a workshop leader,school visit team member and online workshop facilitator for IBO. She has published a work titled ‘Chinese mini theatre in Singapore’ and a study reference book titled ‘Study Guide to Chinese B Individual Oral assessment’ . Cherry regularly shares at international forums in Singapore, Japan, Philippines, China, etc. Her research interests are Teaching and Assessment, Drama infusion, Differentiation and Virtual classroom teaching. Recent years, she was invited to conduct model class lessons as well as workshops on Drama Infusion in Composition (primary and secondary levels) for China teachers in Ningbo, Shanghai and Nanjing by Chinese Society for TaoXingZhi Studies which drew a crowd of 100 teachers.

Daniel Zhang Yong

Daniel Zhang Yong, is the Head of Chinese Language of Sampoerna Academy Schools in Indonesia. He has taught in international schools for 20 years; he is well experienced in teaching in IB (International Baccalaureate), Cambridge, IGCSE courses, and AP (Advanced Placement) courses. As the Head of Chinese Language of Sampoerna Academy Schools, he leads the development and management of the Chinese language curriculum across campus.

Connie Zhang

In 17 years of Chinese teaching experience in international schools, her sutdnets achieve excellent results in the IBDP and IGCSE Chinese exams. She Currently is working at Chaoyang Kaiwen School as the head of Chinese in Senior school. She focuses on reading and writing, and actively promoting the teaching of guide reading. At the same time, She integrates TOK thinking and concepts into Chinese teaching to improve students' critical thinking ability and encourage students to pay attention to and love the world.

Ms. Elva Fu graduated from Northeast Normal University with a master’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature, with National Teaching Certificate in Chinese for High School level. She has taught in well-known international schools in Beijing and Nord Anglia for 8 years.She is TOK coordinator,Student Council and Prefect coordinator and she has teaching experience in IB, A Level, IGCSE, and VCE curriculums. Ms. Elva has a National Psychological Certificate (grade 2), she is a TESOL Advanced certified teacher and ABRSM registered teacher. She is good at designing courses according to students' characteristics and interests. She has developed effective strategies in teaching methods that combine literature and music to cultivate students' sensitivity to language and aesthetic ability. 

Ms Mandy Xu

Master of Education, University of Hong Kong, engaged in Chinese-English bilingual education for 12 years, received education and leadership training at Harvard University and Oxford University, worked as Head of Chinese Programme in the secondary school of Chinese International School, Hong Kong, now transferred to Hangzhou CIS as the Head of Chinese Programme, in charge of the curriculum development and teaching of Chinese, committed to creating a unique Chinese learning experience for students by "Using China as their Classroom".


Aaron Qian

He graduated from Nanjing Normal University and obtained a Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Currently, he is the Head of the Chinese Department of St. Joseph's Institution International in Singapore. He teaches IGCSE Chinese and IB DP Chinese courses and is also an examiner for IB DP Chinese B and Cambridge IGCSE Chinese. He authored or co-authored a series of IB and IGCSE reference books: "IB DP Study Guide to Chinese B Writing Assessment"," IB DP Study Guide to Chinese B Oral Assessment ", " IGCSE 0523 Chinese as A Second Language Mock Paper Exam for Listening ".

 


Mariana Mu

Mariana Mu has a master degree in Chinese Language and Literature and has more than 10 years of work experience in international schools. She is familiar with IBDP,IBMYP,A-LEVEL,IGCSE curriculum and have experience in general subject teaching in international schools.As a Chinese teacher of international curriculum, Ms. Mu has always been committed to creating a Chinese integrated curriculum with Chinese characteristics, and adheres to the educational concept of holistic education. She is good at integrating Chinese and Western cultures for the design of interesting bilingual courses based on the living expreiences in South Korea and Kenya. Meng Yang

Mrs. Meng Yang (Emma) joined XHIS (XLIS) in 2014 serving as various roles, including PYP/MYP/DP Language Acquisition teacher, Head of Chinese Department, MYP Assistant Coordinator. Currently, she is the MYP Coordinator. With the master’s degree in Chinese Linguistics and Language Acquisition from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, she has been working in different IB schools for more than 9 years. Debra Li

Graduated from Shandong Normal University with a bachelor's degree in Chinese language and literature. She taught Chinese in junior middle schools of public schools for 12 years, and then taught Chinese in Qingdao MTI International School for 11 years. Now, she is teaching Chinese in the junior middle school of Qihui Bilingual School, and taking part in the competition classes in Qingdao.Meanwhile, she also organized student activities in international schools, published magazines, and published works in the magazine Dragon Story organized by Shanghai American International School. Yars is the PhD of Peking University Chinese language and literature department. Yanmei Wang

Dr Cleo Xiaodi Wang

Cleo earned a Ph. D in Arts Education from the University of Warwick. She is working as a teacher of Chinese language and literature at Whittle School & Studio, Shenzhen. She is also a published writer in both Chinese and English, with articles in Chinese national newspapers and international academic journals, such as South Daily Literature and Art Supplement and NJ: Drama Australia. Her teaching and research interests include creative writing (fiction), drama and other creative pedagogy, fairy tale study, and teaching classical Chinese poetry.


Lei Yang

Lei Yang majored in Chinese language and literature before received her master's degree in TEFL from the University of Wales. She was certified with British QTS in 2010 and has a strong background in teaching Chinese in international schools for many years.
